Dr. Vince Hassel
While growing up, my best friend’s dad was a chiropractor. I had exposure to chiropractic just a few times from him with injuries from various sports. In high school I had more care with injuries with wrestling and football.
Always, I was amazed with how chiropractic could help me get back to participation fast and help keep me there through the injuries that came with each season. Once I got to Palmer College and learned the true philosophy and the true health benefits of chiropractic care, I knew I had made the right choice.
I did my undergraduate studies at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. After that, I pursued chiropractic studies at Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa. Since graduating, I have completed over 400 hours in post-graduate studies in the Gonstead system.
I have four girls who keep us busy with everything from gymnastics and dance to cheer leading! My own hobbies include golf, water skiing, hunting, snowmobiling, exercising, and anything else I can do outdoors.
I get adjusted once a week. I exercise five days a week in the gym and I spend weekends doing family activities for exercising. Everyday, I eat six meals and drink a gallon of water. My family eats as many organic and healthy “real” food as possible. None of our kids have been vaccinated; none of them have ever taken any antibiotics. And, as busy as they are in activities, they display a good level of health. IN addition, all of my kids have been checked for subluxations and been adjusted since the day they were born!
Enough about me! I hope I get an opportunity to meet you in person and discuss your specific health challenge. I am confident that I can help you with today’s safe and natural chiropractic care. Give our office a call so we can help you take your first step towards better health.

Dr. Lacey Gillies
I was born and raised in Atikokan Ontario Canada, and moved to Des Moines Iowa after completing my Chiropractic Doctorate Degree. The decision to move to Des Moines arose from my desire to join a health care team that promotes the benefits of living a wellness lifestyle, and uses the Gonstead Chiropractic system. Hassel Family Chiropractic is that place, and I am excited to be part of this premier natural health and wellness resource center in Central Iowa.
I graduated from Dalhousie University in Halifax Nova Scotia with a Biology degree, and from Northwestern Health Sciences University in Bloomington MN with a Doctorate of Chiropractic. To best serve my patients I have completed hundreds of hours in post-graduate studies in the Gonstead chiropractic technique, as well as pregnancy and pediatric health. Outside of chiropractic I am also passionate about detoxification and reducing daily chemical exposure, and using traditional nutrition to optimize health. My focus is on health and wellness of the whole person down to the cellular level, and I engage my patients in self-care to correct the cause of their concerns rather than just managing symptoms.
Outside of the office I follow the chiropractic wellness lifestyle I promote in the office. My priorities are to be checked by my chiropractor once a week (or more if under a lot of physical/ mental/ or emotional stress), eat a whole food diet, aims for 7-8 hours of sleep a night, intense workout 3-5 times a week, and performs de-stressing activities daily. I am a member of CrossFit West Des Moines, have completed numerous 5, 10, 20 K runs, and two sprint triathlons. Having been raised in the North, for fun I love wilderness activities like fishing, lake and cabin life, outdoor running and hiking, as well as spending quality time with good company, family, and friends.
I believe everyone deserves the chance to experience vibrant health and energy, live a happy and abundant life, and enjoy each day to the fullest. I have come to realize a huge challenging to achieve one’s life goals is whether less than optimal health or illness is present. My life mission is to help as many people as possible achieve an state of optimal health, which ultimately frees families to achieve the life of their dreams!
I believe a community is only as strong as its weakest member, and to be incredible it needs outstanding members. To help strengthen the health and wellness of our local communities, I am active in the community and also host fun, insightful, and inspiring community health and wellness events in and out of the office. Our offices Community Outreach/ Corporate Wellness Program includes visits to businesses, daycares, banks, schools, and small groups to educate the community on optimizing health by making positive lifestyle choices every day. I am a member of the local Urbandale Chamber of Commerce, UFit, W.O.W (Women of Worth), and BNI (Business Networking International).

I've been seeing Dr. Hassel for more than 14 years. Chiropractic health is as much of my overall health plan as exercise is. The benefits of Chiropractic and Dr. Hassel's advice over the years are too numerous to mention. It's the best relationship I have with any Dr. and the only one I look forward to seeing because I'm there staying healthy.
